Launched: 2014
Objective: To increase the immunization coverage across India by targeting children and pregnant women who have been left out or have partially been vaccinated.
Coverage: Over 10 crore families (around 50 crore beneficiaries) who are socio-economically vulnerable. The scheme is paperless, cashless, and provides free treatment in public and empaneled private hospitals.
Focus Areas: Diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles, and hepatitis B.
Key Features:
Phased mission targeting areas with low immunization coverage.
Special campaigns like Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) to reach the goal of full immunization.
Focuses on both urban and rural regions.
Impact: The coverage of immunization has increased significantly, and the mission aims to achieve 90% immunization by the year 2020 (now extended).
